The UN Migration Agency (IOM) is participating in the 16th edition of Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference (DIHAD) March 12-14, 2019.
Over the years, DIHAD has grown into one of the largest humanitarian and development assistance as it brings together practitioners and decision-makers from leading international organizations, NGOs, governmental bodies, charities, aid workers, foundations, media, academia, and the private sector to join their hands to address the global needs of the people and countries affected by crises, disasters and natural calamities.
This year the conference is focusing on the two Global Compacts for Migration and for Refugees and their impact on population on the move. IOM’s Director General, Antonio Vitorino and Michele Klein Solomon, Director of GCM at IOM, will attend and speak during the event.
IOM’s booth at DIHAD exhibition space will host a 360-photo-exhibition, entitled ‘Holding On’. ‘Holding On’ exhibition showcases the stories of internally displaced people by asking them to reflect on their most cherished possessions.
Using virtual reality technology, attendees will be able to enter the “makeshift” homes and communities of internally displaced individuals to watch them share their story of displacement and the significance of the possession they are holding on to.
