Staff remain key for success – Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie…From Saint Ange Tourism Report Edition #11

Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie of La Digue has moved to incentivise their team, who they say remains key to their recent successes. A recent Staff Meeting chaired by Eric Boulanger, the Hotel’s GM, that was held on the 12th March, saw the recognition of team members who excelled in their respective domains.



Also present at this latest staff meeting were Fabio Dellea (Resident Manager), Mary Anne Andre (Senior Human Resources Manager) Nadie Matombe (La Digue based Human Resources Manager) and Marie Celine Malbrook from the Group’s Head Office.

Staff members were informed that Le Domaine de L’Orageraie had set two targets: firstly, Guest Surveys (questionnaire after guests leave) where a guest satisfaction target is set at 94%. Secondly, Guest Reviews (comments, evaluations that guests post online and giving opinion of what or how the hotel is doing). This guest satisfaction target is set at 90%.


The Hotel’s Management proudly reported to their gathered team members that Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie had achieved 94.5% on the surveys. The Guests’ online Reviews reached 86.7 %. “This is a good enough result and it shows that we are on the right track as the trend is positive,” the Hotel’s Management said before adding that, “continued attention to service will get Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie to achieve the set targets”.


The Hotel Management also announced that from the next meeting they would present some comments left by their clients in a bid to acknowledge staff who went the extra mile.


Employee of the Month: Mr Hansrajasing Makoondee from Kitchen was the Best Employee of the Month for January 2018 & Mr Kevin Esparon from Guest Relations was awarded the Best Employee of the Month for February 2018. They both received a certificate and Rs1000.


The Hotel has a good reputation on the website (sites like TripAdvisor) and this is due mainly to effort made by Management and staff alike. The Social Media Award was introduced in June 2017 and this is based on positive comments on the booking engines. The following staff received the Social Media Award: Mr Suneth Abeygunawardana received for December 2017, Mr Prashan de Silva received for January 2018 and Jaya Sookun and Vinay Padaruth received for February 2018. They each received Rs1000.


The Head of Department Award was also newly introduced and Mr Amir from security received the Award for January 2018. Mrs Annie Esparon received the Award for February 2018. They each received a dinner for two.


Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie have now launched the Sushi Lunch option every Saturday, following the recommendation made by the staff.
