UNWTO strongly condemns attack on trekkers in Pakistan

Almasalla Travel News - Ashraf El gedawy - UNWTO is deeply shocked by the attack in the base camp of Nanga Parbat in Gilgit-Baltistan  Pakistan.

On behalf of the international tourism community, UNWTO conveys its heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims and to the Government of Pakistan.

“I am appalled by this horrible act of violence. Our thoughts at this difficult moment are with the families and friends of the victims and the Government and people of Pakistan” said UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai. “The livelihoods of many people in Pakistan depend on the tourism sector and UNWTO stands ready to support the country in ensuring its tourism continues to thrive as one of the means to bring development to local communities." he added.
