aTP-  Arab tourism portal News – The late Seychellois bassist Keren Jeannevol was laid to rest yesterday afternoon after a touching funeral service at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Victoria.

Keren was one of the most talented musician in Seychelles and has played in popular local bands such as Laflanm and Zenith. He was also a member of the Pa Pou Anpandan band which accompanies singer Philip Toussaint during his shows around the country.

Aside from his family and friends, a large congregation attended the funeral service among which were Vice President Danny Faure, Designated Minister Vincent Meriton, Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange and the Minister Labour and Human Resource Development Idith Alexander.

In his sermon, Deacon Louis Agathine said music revitalises the society; it brings joy to those who are sad and motivate those who are in despair.

Deacon Agathine saluted all musicians who have and are still contributing to our music industry. He called on all those present to keep cherishing the good souvenirs left by the late Keren.

He also urged the authorities concerned to keep a moment of silence at the opening of the new music stadium, to pay tribute to singers and musicians who have passed away.

On behalf of the Seychelles Musicians Association, Jean-Marc Volcy sympathised with the family of the late Keren and called on the congregation to remember him not only as a bassist but as one of the greatest talents of Seychelles.

The late bassist died last Sunday in the intensive care unit at the Seychelles Hospital after a short illness.
